My name is Kim Johnson and I have worked in the mental health field since 1990 in the Sacramento area. I have been employed in both the public and private sectors of inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. I work to help people of many ages and backgrounds overcome past trauma, conflicts, alter dysfunctional patterns and actualize their potentials toward recovery and fulfillment.
OVER the past three years, I have had the privilege of building relationships and providing support in some of the world’s most challenging environments, war-torn Ukraine, the red-light districts and slums of Thailand, and during a community crisis in Penang, Malaysia. Through these travels, I have been teaching about trauma and EMDR Therapy, while also offering direct services to soldiers, refugees, sex workers, and those affected by crises such as suicide and the Bangkok earthquake. Many have endured trauma, displacement and profound loss. This October I taught EMDR Therapy to 22 Therapists and a form of EMDR to 45 non-professionals in Kathmandu, Nepal. I have built relationships with several non-profit organizations to extend EMDR Therapy and support to care workers and trauma survivors. I believe I am called to serve in this work, and I am grateful for the doors this has opened. I invite you to partner with me as I prepare for upcoming EMDR-focused trips:
- Penang, Malaysia (February 2026)
- Cebu, Philippines (June 2026)
- Kathmandu, Nepal (October 2026)
- Upcoming opportunities include Myanmar and Cambodia
Since I have been funding these trips primarily from my savings, I am seeking your support - financial, emotional, and/or prayer - to sustain this mission. Donations will cover airfare, in-country expenses, and EMDR equipment for therapists in training. I have partnered with EquipNet to process donations and provide official tax receipts. I will share travel schedules, service reports, and impact photos to show how your support helps individuals, families, and communities heal and rebuild their lives amidst adversity. I hope you will consider joining me on these journeys. Your support support - whether through donation, encouragement and/or prayer - is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your partnership and kindness.

-KimÂ

By Kim Johnson, Author
No one’s heart bleeds more than a mother’s over their child’s pain.
In just past few of decades, much work has been done to increase awareness of child sex abuse and provide support for victims. However, it’s important to remember that the mothers of these victims are an essential part of that healing process. Next to the victims, many of the mothers are horrifically scarred by shame, guilt, fear, regret, and other emotional wounds.
In her book Mothers of Molestation Survivors, Kim Johnson shares a collection of incredibly helpful action plans that mothers can take to help heal the trauma of this horrific experience. Johnson is a licensed clinical social worker who has spent years helping families of sex abuse incidents. She has interviewed countless mothers of victims of molestations and works with a wide network of therapists.
Mothers of Molestation Survivors is divided into distinct halves. The first half represent mothers who gave poor responses to these abuses (such as Protective, Overprotective and Unprotective Mothers). The second half show the better, healthier alternatives (the Educated, Resourceful and Spiritual Mothers). Readers will also tackle a number of myths regarding sex abuse that still persist, as well as further resources on how to support the assisting victims of child sex abuse.
